Dirk Ehnts is speaker of the board at the German-speaking NGO Samuel-Pufendorf-Gesellschaft für politische Ökonomie e. V., which is named after a pre-enlightenment scholar. The society aims at promoting research and science, especially the transfer of knowledge about the tasks and functions of the modern monetary system. He holds a doctoral degree in state sciences (economics) from University of Oldenburg (2008). Since then, he published on economic geography, monetary theory, financial markets and history of economic thought. His latest publications include “Modern Monetary Theory and European Macroeconomics”, published by Routledge in 2017, a 2019 working paper on the academic reception of Knapp’s State Theory of Money and a simple macroeconomic model based on MMT and published in the International Journal for Pluralism and Economics Education in 2014. Dirk Ehnts has taught at several German universities, among them TU Chemnitz, Freie Universität Berlin and the Berlin School of Economics and Law. He is book review editor of the International Journal for Pluralism and Economics Education, a member of the Institute for International Political Economy IPE Berlin and has organized the 1st International European MMT conference on February 1-2, 2019, at EBC Hochschule in Berlin (180 registrations and 45 paper presentations).
