Isaac Abotebuno Akolgo
Research Associate
Isaac Abotebuno Akolgo’s current research focuses on the political economy of money and finance in Ghana. Drawing from a variety of heterodox economics perspectives, his work contributes to longstanding and recent debates on development finance. Of particular interest is the analysis of: (1) the ownership and operations of banks and fintechs; (2) sovereign debt accumulation and debt crises; and (3) the distributive effects of monetary policy in Ghana. By sifting through the complexity of money and finance, Akolgo’s research aims to contribute to policy discourse on the sustainable path to Ghanaian, and by extension, African economic and financial sovereignty.
