Isaac Abotebuno Akolgo, PhD
Research Associate
Isaac Abotebuno Akolgo is a postdoctoral researcher at the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence, University of Bayreuth and Bard College Berlin. His current research focuses on money, finance, and the political economy of development in Ghana. Drawing from a variety of heterodox economics perspectives, his work contributes to longstanding and recent debates on development finance. Of particular interest is the analysis of: (1) the ownership and operations of banks and Fintechs; (2) sovereign debt accumulation and debt crises; and (3) the distributive effects of monetary policy. By sifting through the complexity of money and finance, he aims to contribute to policy discourse on the sustainable path to Ghanaian as well as the broader African economic transformation.
